Metacognitive Reading Strategy Awareness and Reading Performance of Vocational Lecturers

In education, the functions of reading, among others, are to access knowledge, synthesize information, evaluate arguments, and learn new subjects. It is believed that successful readers employ various proper reading strategies comprehend a text. To examine use metacognitive in academic comprehension, this study investigates performance major twenty-five vocational Indonesian lecturers from institutions as research respondents. Two instruments were used: Reading Comprehension Test obtain data their performance, Survey Strategies (SORS) identify preferred strategies. The finding indicates respondents had varied levels English performance. result also shows out three sub-categories strategies, problem-solving strategy was most frequently used strategy, followed by global support respectively. Further statistical calculation, however, proves there no significant difference overall between high low achievers. There relationship participants.
